I was chatting with my brother, Carl, earlier today. I was a little down about being newly unemployed, and frustrated at my blog and writing. He mentioned Nate Riggs, Chris Brogan, and several others and asked if I had ever looked at their first posts. I hadn’t and told him so. He asked me to spend time this morning and do just that. So I did, and I was so happy to see that so many had started writing about everyday life, and things, just like myself.
Over the years they had honed their craft and topics, and today write the wonderful blogs we follow. Chris Brogan used to write about his running, training, etc. Nate wrote about things in the media that bothered him, and about a visitor that stayed with them and had a funny misunderstanding. I commented on both of their first posts and thanked them for keeping them up for people like me to see. They gave me hope.
While working on my photoblog template this evening I noticed a pop-up from Nate via TweetDeck. I couldn’t believe what I was reading. I had made HIS day with my comment and he made that his blog entry for the day. That in turn made my day. I was so humbled by his post, and excited, I texted Carl, and told him what happened. He asked me to send him the link asap.
I was at such a loss for words, that I wrote Nate this comment:
I’m so humbled by this myself! I just wish I had something more substantial on my blog, but in time. Thank you for the mention, and so glad I was able to brighten your day.
I’m in awe at your mention, but I have to mention, that I was so excited reading your tweet that I texted Carl right away. He’s on vacation, and wants to read your post right now. :) Both he and my father pushed me towards social media, claiming that I have the gift of e-gab, and love helping others. I hope I can turn this into something amazing as you and the others have.
If you can’t already tell, Carl is my best friend, and my youngest brother. I look to him for anything related to SEO, SEM, Social Media, etc. His knowledge amazes me, and he’s been guiding me along this new journey. He’s really become a whiz at it all. He looks up to you, and the others. And he’s always speaking so highly of you. He’s the reason why I follow you and Chris B.
Thanks for making MY day Nate, may the rest of yours be fantastic!
I meant every word of it, just wish it had more finesse.
Thank you Nate!
