Here’s a great 3-page PDF I found on “Count Me In/Make Mine a Million.org” to dispel your thoughts about being more efficient, having your business “for a little extra cash,” not being able to make a difference in the employment crisis, working alone to stay in control, not hiring because of time and cost, etc.
I know this seems geared toward women owned small businesses, but I do believe most of these apply to all small businesses. So men, read on.
Here’s one I’m glad I read:
Myth: I could do it all myself if I could just be a little more efficient.
Fact: Efficiency doesn’t mean doing more by yourself. You are most efficient when you can focus all of your attention on leading your business and doing the things that you do best. When you rush through your workload, you will make mistakes. And when mistakes happen, you spend more time going back to fix them, instead of moving on to the next project. Figure out what you are best at, what you enjoy doing in your business and turn the rest into a job description for someone else. Now you have time to lead your business, find new contracts and clients. Now that’s efficient.
