My 4 years at Taco Bell (via The Creative Group)

April 12, 2010 By Kat M B Leave a Comment

At Taco Bell I supported the System Training department’s training tools, resource guides and job aids. My knowledge and experience in rapid development of these tools partnered with my expertise in many technology platforms created a demand to use me in a variety of projects for intact and cross-functional teams. I was able to synthesize the needs of others, create high-impact materials with minimal applications (Microsoft Office 2007, Visio 2007, and SnagIt) and expand the team’s knowledge in both technology and application usage. I was often sought after to create client presentations, troubleshoot document errors and serve as back-up desktop publisher to the other training liaisons in the organization. Furthermore, my knowledge in HTML allowed me to post content to the Internet quickly and efficiently–without error.

My last two years at Taco Bell (via the Creative Group) were filled with LCMS (Learning Content Management Systems). Primarily VTN’s Olé, and Evolution’s OutStart.

I am a Desktop Publisher and Social Media Enthusiast. I offer virtual assistance in the design of PowerPoint presentations (and templates), business forms, Social Media, WordPress blogs, web sites, Facebook, Twitter, Tweetdeck, LinkedIn, etc. I am also a Real Estate photographer.

What does all that mean for you?

It means that I can provide you with a slew of help in branding your look, formatting and designing PowerPoint presentations, design both print and online business forms, design your personal or company WordPress blog, and create a brochure type website for your company, create org (organizational) charts, flow charts or other charts…just to name a few. Allowing me to take care of the above gives you time to work on other projects.

And if you’re new to the Social Media scene and have no idea where to start or what social media can do for you, again, I can help!

Feel free to browse my site to learn in detail how I can help you, and more regarding my creative/technical abilities, projects I’ve worked on and completed, clients who’ve hired me, and their testimonials.

All this LCMS! I miss designing business forms, styling and formatting training manuals, PowerPoint presentations, etc.

Although learning a new program, application, software, etc. is fun for me. Working in them steadily may not always be as much fun.

When I started on this project a year ago, it was exciting! I was learning VTN Ole system (an LCMS), and making revisions to Taco Bell’s Answer System (which consists of six books and is basically their restaurant policies and protocols, menu builds, etc.) within the VTN Ole system. VTN wasn’t initially made as an LCMS, and was difficult to work with, not flexible, and had many issues, but I was able to complete the project.

A decision was made to migrate to OutStart Evolution (another LCMS), which at first seemed promising. But after “playing” in the system and trying out various layouts for an important section of the books I find there are many issues, incompatibility, etc. It could just be that the Answer System books don’t belong in these systems, but I feel the systems aren’t flexible enough to meet their needs.

This past week and next I’m proofreading all the content to ensure it migrated properly. I really miss working on the “fun stuff” – designing business forms, styling and formatting training manuals, PowerPoint presentations, etc. But what I really miss is my social media networking and helping others with tips and How-to’s. I miss learning new systems, software, programs, applications, etc. I guess I’m a learner. It’s my biggest strength along with socializing, and assisting others with technology.

So for now, I bid you adieu. Until next time…

Learning Management Content Systems (LCMS)

Working in OutStart Evolution (an LCMS), ensuring content migrated properly from VTN Ole (another LCMS), before restructuring said content…

I’ve been proofreading the content in OutStart Evolution (an LCMS) with a PDF output of each book from VTN. I need to ensure all the content migrated completely from one system to the other before we can begin editing and restructuring the content, and identifying reusable data.

There are six books, totaling 2367 pages. Let’s see how quickly I finish the proofreading!

Client in need of PowerPoint template designed…

August 13, 2007 By Kat M B Leave a Comment

Turn Communications – Ken needed me to put together a PowerPoint template for his client Axcess-Tel. He gave me the background images for the Title and Slide Masters, font sizes, colors, etc.I had it ready for him in 1 hour.

Then the client requested that I turn their presentation into the actual template, and that took me about 2 hours. They were very pleased with the quick turn-around time and the template.

They have now asked that I show them how to use the template.
