Although learning a new program, application, software, etc. is fun for me. Working in them steadily may not always be as much fun.
When I started on this project a year ago, it was exciting! I was learning VTN Ole system (an LCMS), and making revisions to Taco Bell’s Answer System (which consists of six books and is basically their restaurant policies and protocols, menu builds, etc.) within the VTN Ole system. VTN wasn’t initially made as an LCMS, and was difficult to work with, not flexible, and had many issues, but I was able to complete the project.
A decision was made to migrate to OutStart Evolution (another LCMS), which at first seemed promising. But after “playing” in the system and trying out various layouts for an important section of the books I find there are many issues, incompatibility, etc. It could just be that the Answer System books don’t belong in these systems, but I feel the systems aren’t flexible enough to meet their needs.
This past week and next I’m proofreading all the content to ensure it migrated properly. I really miss working on the “fun stuff” – designing business forms, styling and formatting training manuals, PowerPoint presentations, etc. But what I really miss is my social media networking and helping others with tips and How-to’s. I miss learning new systems, software, programs, applications, etc. I guess I’m a learner. It’s my biggest strength along with socializing, and assisting others with technology.
So for now, I bid you adieu. Until next time…
